Berlin papers charge Washington report on torpedo damage to the destroyer Kearny is a war inciting invention. They hint the incident may be used to push Congress to arm merchant ships and claim American or British actions could have damaged the Kearny.
Wisconsin beats Iowa 23 to 6 and Michigan nudges Northwestern 14 7. Missouri defeats Iowa State 39 13 as Penn State wins 23 0 over Princeton. Army tops Yale 20 7 and Notre Dame trims Carnegie Tech 16 6.

At Coe College homecoming the Kohawks defeated Cornell College 12 to 6. Queen Shirley Engelbert from Marengo, a Delta Delta Delta, was crowned by student vote and stands with her maids Margaret Nickless Ruth McDermott Lois Jane Sutter and June Bennett as the score board was dedicated by the classes of 1938 and 1941.

Miss Keir is a former Coe student now training at the University of Iowa.
Mrs. John McDonald suffered a knee injury at 4 55 p m Saturday after a car driven by her daughter Margery Ellen McDonald collided with a machine driven by Robert Gustafsson at Fourth street and Eighth avenue Sw. She was taken to Mercy hospital for X rays. Gustafsson faces charges of operating a motor vehicle without a driver's license.
The engagement of Rosalind Russell, film actress, to Frederick Brisson, a Hollywood theatrical agent, was announced in Waterbury Connecticut by her mother, Mrs. James E. Russell, on Saturday night.
Russian reports acknowledge pressure from German assault near Moscow while claiming fierce Soviet counterattacks on the right wing.
