Oil prices retreat after hitting new peak amid supply data
Oil futures slipped from a record high as the Energy Information Administration reported a 1.8 million barrel rise in crude stocks for the week ending Oct 12, while gasoline and distillate supplies also grew. Traders weighed Turkey's Kurdish clash risks against ample U.S. inventories and a government refinery incident. November crude settled at 87.40 a barrel on the Nymex.

Iowa drivers feel little impact from record oil prices
Iowa households face higher gas prices this month yet the rise is tempered by a switch to cheaper winter fuel blends. The Oct 16 average for E-10 gasoline was 2.63 per gallon, up 26 percent from a year earlier but 6 percent below mid-September. Diesel rose 5 cents to 3.08, propane fetched 1.73 per gallon, natural gas 7.04 per decatherm, and heating oil 2.75 per gallon.
