Italy evacues 15000 as Po and Ticino flood plains rise
Floodwaters from the Po and Ticino surges forced evacuation of more than 15,000 people in Piacenza and surrounding areas. The death toll in Italy and Switzerland reached 25, with a 1 year old boy and a mother among the latest victims. Dozens remained missing as emergency crews evacuated villages and reinforced river banks.

Astronauts Add Debris As They Install Space Station Power
Two space walkers attached two power converters to the international space station during a Tuesday spacewalk. A depressurization valve cap floated away after astronaut Bill McArthur emerged from Discovery, bouncing off the station and shuttle robot arm before vanishing. Mission Control called it not a concern. Leroy Chiao mounted the converters from Discovery’s robotic arm, removing each 175‑pound unit from the shuttle cargo bay.

Army to issue black berets are standard headgear for all soldiers
Army chief Gen. Eric Shinseki announced the change at the AUSA convention. The black beret will replace the overseas cap service cap and battle dress cap for all soldiers effective June 14. Helmets remain in combat.
