The Iowa Department of Transportation closes 26th Street from Beverly Road south for a quarter mile in southwest Cedar Rapids for about six months to allow a bridge on relocated Highway 30 to be built. Local notices advertise events and services in the area.
Democrat John Brunow of Centerville accuses state Auditor Lloyd Smith of poor audit record keeping. He cites delayed reports on the Buchanan County treasurer and other audits as evidence of mis management and political timing. Brunow also questions the National Guard audit and cites the Iowa Public Broadcasting Network equipment missing as examples.
Randy W Hill 18 Cedar Rapids received up to two years suspended sentence and three years probation for reduced assault tied to a sexual assault on a 12 year old. Jeffry R Moubry 18 ordered two months jail for criminal mischief after damage to Linn Mar School District buildings. Mark A Armstrong 19 Cedar Rapids four days jail plus 41 already served. 90 days total with four suspended for auto theft case. Winston R Landers 36 Walker suspended one year jail and one year probation for second offense drunken driving plus $500 fine.
