He named Nixon Romney Rockefeller and Reagan as possible nominees and said a Rockefeller Reagan ticket would be a sexy combination to defeat the Democrats. Percy spoke to about 1450 women at the Eastern Republican Women`s Conference.
Iowa reports show corn harvest at about 9 percent by Monday, soybeans at 60 percent. Rains slowed collecting but both crops run near the five year average, with corn 11 percent and soybeans 73 percent a year ago.

UPI reports Jack Buttram an American airline clerk was securing luggage at Washington National Airport when the baggage door shut on him. After two hours in the jet’s belly an Ohio bag clerk opened the door and freed Buttram who was described as too embarrassed to talk.
Donald E. Kuhn owner of the Don Kuhn Co. was chosen as 1968 president by the Cedar Rapids Board of Realtors with nine governors. He lives at 1930 Cad Lane SW and will be installed in January. Other officers include C. F. Bud Hunter first vice president Thomas J. Zachar second vice president Vernon E. Brusha secretary.
Clifford W. De Beaufort, 85, longtime Iowa Realtor and former correspondent for American newspapers covering World War I, died Sunday. He was active with the Iowa Association of Realtors and noted for his behind-the-German lines coverage.
