Brookings Urges Centralized State Tax Commission
Brookings Institute proposes moving all major state tax duties to a single state tax commission. The plan would rename the board of assessment and review and shift gasoline, cigarette, beer, inheritance and estate taxes, motor vehicle license tax, motor carrier tax, olcomar garine tax, and later insurance premium taxes to the new body. The recommendation awaits action by the Will F. Riley led interim committee in Des Moines.
