Cedar Rapids celebrity Kurt Warner, now with the St. Louis Rams, shines amid NFL publicity while Tim Dwight of Iowa City faces a fall from past Super Bowl glory. In a 45-29 win over Atlanta at the Trans World Dome, Warner passed for 313 yards and three TDs, but Marshall Faulk dominated with 208 rushing and 78 receiving yards.
Stillwater Oklahoma Dave Martin senior associate athletics director at Oklahoma State and a former Iowa State wrestler is a finalist for ISU athletic director. Other candidates include Paul Griffin and Bruce Van De Velde. ISU seeks Smith successor by November 1 after ISU beat Oklahoma State 33 26 on a late 33 yard Rosenfels pass.
Michael McGrane and Robyn Squire captured the men's 10K and women's half marathon at the 24th Iowa City Run for the Schools. About 2,000 participants took part as Dan Hostager Kimberly Tobin Muriel Naumann and Rikki Hacker also won titles in other races.
