Edgewood Cedar River bridge nears completion in Cedar Rapids

As the Edgewood road bridge over the Cedar River nears completion, Barker Construction Co. Iowa City works on approaches while Jeffries Construction Co. Chariton moves dirt. Grading from Ellis road NW to the bridge should finish by Nov 1 weather permitting, with rock surfacing to Forty-second street NE and concrete paving planned next year.

Parachutists disrupt Moratorium rally in Central Park

In New York thousands of high school students rallied for Moratorium day when two men leaped from a helicopter over Central Park. Gene Feeney of White Plains and Hadden Wood of Greenwich said they staged a counter demonstration in support of Vietnam, were arrested, and taken away as police confronted booing students. They carried large American flags and released red smoke as they landed.
