Earth's Wobble Could Foreshadow Major Quakes
Canadian geophysicists L Mansinha and D E Smylie propose that the earth's axial wobble, sustained by earthquakes, may yield 5 to 10 day premonitory signals for large quakes. They cite records of over two dozen major quakes from 1957 to 1966 and suggest pole path changes, if confirmed, could indicate impending large scale strain release.
