Springtown musical born from family history and fame

Jean Wells of Mount Pleasant stems her musical Springtown from memories of her father Claude Wells the Shenandoah dentist and his family. The piece grew after a Chicago meeting inspired by Sweet Adelines and a fundraising effort linked to the Iowa Wesleyan chapel restoration.

Call of the Colors Photography Contest at The Gazette

The Gazette invites Iowa residents to submit fall color photos for a print contest and an online people's choice. Five top images will be published on Thanksgiving Day with awards of 25 dollars each. Entries may be mailed or emailed, must be unmounted 8 by 10 prints or JPG 200 dpi images, and must include name address and contact.
