Bentler murders haunt small Iowa town a year on
Bonaparte residents still feel the impact of Shawn Bentler's five murder convictions in May for killing his parents and four siblings to gain a grain business inheritance. The community holds memorials as Harmony High School counselors assist students. Local ties run deep with residents recalling the family and honoring them with online tributes and cemetery visits.
