Boots on poles evoke Alabama link to Linn County landmark
North central Iowa residents recall boot tree landmarks along Lafayette Road near Alburnett. Lynn Spencer of Somerville Alabama traced the idea to Lynn’s husband in a Rural Electric Cooperative past, who helped attach boots to poles after seeing similar props along Highway 94. The boot trees inspired another boot tree in Alabama and a call for boots.
