Crime Stoppers payouts linger as calls dwindle in Cedar Rapids

Since 1984 the Cedar Rapids Crime Stoppers program has paid out 7000 in rewards, with 450 delivered since 2004 and 850 unused. Police say about 100 calls come in each year, and the anonymous tip line 14800 CR CRIME remains in the public eye as funding relies on donations.

Iowa City Eyes Crime Stoppers for Killer Reward

Cornell alumnus gives 5 million to fund Berry Center in Mount Vernon

A 1965 Cornell College graduate, James McWethy of Downers Grove Illinois, donates 5 million dollars to establish the Berry Center for Economics Business and Public Policy on the Mount Vernon campus. The gift, the college's second largest ever, honors Lester Berry founder of Berry Bearing Co. in Chicago. The center will train students in applied economics and public policy within the economics department.
