UPI reports Israeli and Egyptian envoys reviewed a detailed U.S. peace plan as Secretary Vance said a final treaty might be ready by Sadat’s Nov. 19 Jerusalem anniversary. The Blair House talks focused on a map-filled treaty, with Vance cautioning that differences remain but progress is evident.
The Duane Arnold Energy Center near Palo should be repaired by the first week of December and restarted before Christmas. Iowa Electric Light and Power Co. executive Dr. Samuel J. Tuthill outlined progress on replacing eight cooling pipes after a June shutdown for a leak. Welders are replacing three of eight 10 inch risers with the first to finish early next week.
