Ben Fowler Quits Iowa Civil Defense Post
C. E. Ben Fowler age 67 resigned as state civil defense director effective by March 1. The Iowa Civil Defense Administration accepted the resignation with one dissenting vote. Fowler cited the need to promote better relations and improve fuel for the program amid criticism of planning and funding. Gov. Erbe had called for his firing earlier.
