Separate trials set in Marengo cafe owner slaying case
In Iowa County, Jacob Hilgendorf and Denise Frei will be tried separately for the death of Curtis Bailey. Hilgendorf's trial will start Jan. 11 in Scott County, Frei's early February trial may also be moved there. Dayton already convicted.

The Iowa Department of Transportation will not change the 1997 town and country plate design but may alter alphanumeric sequence and text color. A rolling replacement plan is considered to swap aging plates while keeping newer ones in use.

Man confesses to 2006 murder in Wisconsin
Michael John Burnavinha of LUVABLILD IV confessed at a Prairie du Chien police station that he killed 23 year old Shannon Fischer during an argument on December 18 2006. Crawford County Attorney Tim Baxter will charge Burroughs with first degree homicide and he is held on a 250000 cash bond.
