Soviet Zenit booster explodes at Baikonur amid space program concerns
The Zenit rocket suffered a post liftoff explosion at Baikonur on Oct. 4, destroying most of one launch pad. Tass reported a broken up booster with no injuries and a commission investigating. Officials said the payload, possibly Kosmos series, was ruined and future launches paused by Glavkosmos.
