Man Given Seven Year Sentence On Bad Check Charge

Francis T. Grady of 724 First Avenue NE received a seven year penitentiary term at Fort Madison after pleading guilty to 14 bad checks totaling 596.59 filed in Linn County District Court. He faces remaining charges of desertion and abandonment of minor children and bigamy, with a hold order from Johnson County for additional bad checks.

Two Cedar Rapids Men Plead Innocent To Drunk Driving

Two Cedar Rapids men, George L. Willits and Byron M. Knudson, pled innocent in district court to drunken driving charges. Willits, 34, faces a third offense after his car struck another vehicle at the intersection of B Avenue and Center Point Road NE, with a witness describing erratic driving. Knudson, 54, is charged with a first offense after his semi-trailer, carrying frozen turkeys for a Des Moines firm, damaged another vehicle and he drove away. The turkeys were later at a Cedar Rapids truck stop under police custody.

LeRoy Younger of Tipton was arraigned in Linn County district court on assault with intent to inflict great bodily injury after a tavern disturbance in Cedar Rapids Friday night. He faces an aggravated assault charge.

Burchard Sues For Fire Insurance Claim Details

F A Burchard filed suit in a district court to force Mutual Fire and Auto Insurance to pay a 400 dollar claim for barn fire damage. Co defendant W C Zeman, an agent for the company, is named.
