Taxes to Be Under Senate Bill

The tables show the effect on individuals of the increased income tax plus a 5 percent victory tax on gross earnings over 624 yearly, approved by the senate in passing the revenue bill. The house has not yet agreed to the victory tax but regular income tax rates match. Credits against the victory tax for postwar rebates or debt reductions total 25 percent for singles and 40 percent for married with 2 percent per dependent. Maximum credit is 500 for single and 1,000 for married. Figures in the first column are gross incomes before deductions. For this table regular income taxes are computed after an arbitrary deduction for contributions taxes and similar deductions.
