Milton cuts power to millions as hurricane hits Florida
Hurricane Milton slammed coastal Florida killing at least six people and knocking out power for more than 3 million customers. Rescue crews pulled survivors from debris while a Coast Guard helicopter saved a man clinging to an ice chest after his boat was overwhelmed. The storm made landfall as a Category 3 near Siesta Key, sparing Tampa a direct hit but causing widespread damage and flooding.

Iowa to add 28 fast EV charging stations along Interstates
The Iowa DOT will spend about 16.2 million dollars from federal funds to install 28 fast-charging stations along Iowa interstates 80 380 29 and 35 as part of the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure formula program. Fifteen stations will line I-80 including in Cedar Rapids at a Kwik Trip off I-380 33rd Avenue SW another Kwik Trip in North Liberty and a site in Iowa City near The Highlander Hotel at exit 246. The plan aims to place chargers every 50 miles and within one mile of interstates with stations nationwide through 2026.
