Heating costs to rise this winter in the US
The Energy Information Administration says Americans will pay more to heat homes this winter. Heating oil users face a 20 percent rise, natural gas 15 percent, propane 13 percent, and electricity 5 percent. Last winter was the warmest on record, with temperatures near normal this year.

Iowa households rely most on natural gas 67 percent and LP gas 16 percent for heat with electricity 13 percent and fuel oil 2 percent.
