Downtown Iowa City eyes special tax district for tourism
Local businesses and property owners ask the City Council to establish a self supported municipal improvement district or SSMID to fund tourism initiatives and downtown enhancements. The plan would tax 2 dollars per 1000 dollars of assessed value.
