Supreme Court to Rule on Party Spending Limits
The Supreme Court agreed to decide if some federal limits on party coordinated expenditures violate free speech. A ruling could erase hard money caps, enabling parties to funnel large sums to candidates early or near elections. The case stems from a 1986 Colorado Senate race. in 1996 the court allowed unlimited hard money when not coordinating with the candidate.
