Avenue of Flags rises from ashes in Tama tribute
In Tama a fire at Oak Hill Cemetery destroyed the shelterhouse and melted 2,650 pounds of poles, but volunteers raised nearly 5,000 to replace 153 flag poles for the Avenue of Flags. The effort, led by John Frahm and auxiliary members Kitty Shadden and Molly McNall, restored the patriotic display with new galvanized poles and storage plans.
