Ex-governor Sherman home decays beyond restoration

The former Iowa Governor Baren R. Sherman residence seven miles southwest of Vinton on the Gerald Kreutner farm deteriorates with no funds or interest to move or restore. Benton County Historical Society backed restoration plans for years but local advocate Betty Myers says the house will not be saved and will likely rot away. Sherman served 1882 to 1886 and the house moved to the farm in 1938 for hired hand quarters.
