Prominent Churchmen to Speak at Iowa Baptist Convention

Prominent denominational leaders headline the Iowa Baptist convention in Cedar Rapids this week at First Baptist church. About 300 delegates attend a schedule featuring pastors conferences, Woman's Mission sessions, and talks by Dr. R. G. Schell and Dr. J. C. Robbins.

Helen Volesky died September 21 estate to son William B Volesky and daughters Nora C Lorence and Libbie A Smahel executor named. The will admitted to probate Saturday drawn Oct 3 1935.

Decree Upheld In Soukup Workman’s Comp Appeal

A state supreme court reversal of Linn county district court action on Frank Soukup’s December 22 1933 right foot injury led to a ruling by Judge A B Clark granting $98 01. The district court had added compensation for 351 weeks after an industrial commission reopening on permanent disability. The Shores company as employer and St Paul Mercury Indemnity Company as insurer appealed to the supreme court.

C. I. T. seeks possession in replevin case over three refrigerators

In district court C. I. T. sues Home Coal company and B. R. Stuff doing business as Home Coal, asking judgment for possession of three refrigerators. The plaintiff claims ownership under alleged assigned contracts and agreements and asserts the defendants detain the property denying the plaintiff’s entitlement to possession.

O'Brien Wins 175 Judgment in Belle Plaine Car Injury

Judge H C Ring awards Margaret O'Brien 175 after a personal injury suit by her father Thomas O'Brien against Mrs Ethel Kepler. Injuries arose when a defendant car allegedly struck a bicycle ridden by the girl and her brother in Belle Plaine. Case submitted with jury waiver.

Kvach Wins Divorce From Koach on Desertion Grounds

Judge H. C. Ring grants 36 year old Charles R. Kvach a divorce from Phoebe Koach on desertion grounds. The couple wed October 9, 1926 in Maquoketa after an original petition filed May 4, 1933.

Forrest Parker will assume ownership of the Sen. D. Moore grocery store next Monday. Parker is an experienced businessman currently employed at Roeder's cafe, while Mr. Moore has not announced his future plans.

Scientists Groove Clouds With Airplane Flight Study

Two scientists, Irving Langmuir and Alexander Forbes, report in the Journal of the Aeronautical Sciences that planes leave distinct furrows in stratus cloud tops and, in some cases, cut through the cloud layers. The wakes persist briefly as the cloud reorganizes, with observations from Saratoga Springs New York New London Connecticut and Montauk Point Long Island.

Hanford Legion Post To Elect And Install Officers

Hanford Post No. 5 of the American Legion will elect and install officers at the Memorial building Tuesday at 8 p.m. Gilbert Martin is nominated for post commander without opposition.
