Municipal Judge L M Hullinger ruled last Friday that installing a hot water heater is not plumbing and may be done without a licensed plumber or master supervision. Miss Josephine Koffron age 84 of Cedar Rapids dies Friday after brief illness born December 2 1875 in Cedar Rapids. She belonged to ZCBJ No 15 and is survived by a niece Virginia Van Zandt who kept her company at home. Services 1 30 Monday at Turner's with Rev Jack Oliver of First Christian Church. Buried Czech National. Friends may call at the chapel.

Washington officials said the United States accepted November 10 as the start date for East West technical talks at Geneva aimed at preventing surprise attacks. The sessions will involve U S and Soviet technical experts to draft verification and defense measures.

The Dvorsky family Donald Bernice Edward and Celia received a 2250 dollar verdict from a Cedar Rapids jury after suing for 8500 dollars for city sewer condemning their land near Ozark and Fiftieth streets NE. The case, heard in Judge B J Maxwell s court, concluded with a sealed verdict opened Friday morning.

La Verne L. Zaehringer 29 of Davenport was sentenced to life plus 30 years for the July 16 slaying of Detective William Jurgens. The two sentences run consecutively, with no parole, after a guilty plea to murder and assault with intent to commit murder.
