Six people were injured in three Sunday incidents around Cedar Rapids with no serious injuries reported. Robert T. Kelis, 75, of 2037 Washington Ave SE, suffered a leg injury after being struck by C. J. Wurtele’s car at the Third street SE and First avenue intersection. Kelis declined hospital care initially, but a physician later noted a badly bruised leg. Leo Gett and Loretta Chapman, both from SW area addresses, were treated at Mercy Hospital for cuts and bruises from a separate 6 p.m. Sunday collision.

Joe Bulanek, 68, of 1126 Seventh Street SE, died by his own hand Sunday night, hanging from an inside door casing. Neighbor Cleo Darrow found the body at 7:20 a.m. Monday. deputy coroner C. H. Stark attributed death to despondency. Bulanek, unemployed and living alone, left two notes addressed to his neighbors.
