Julius Tomin, a 49 year old Czech dissident who fled to Britain, begins a paid role at the Beehive pub in Swindon giving three lectures a year. The job pays 8500 dollars and includes a half hour talk plus a customer discussion. He left welfare after opting to pursue philosophy rather than an academic posting. He previously staged underground seminars in Prague in defiance of authorities.
