Study Describes Alcoholics As Over-Conscientious
New Canaan Connecticut report from Silver Hill Foundation doctors Neumann and Lumerin study hundreds of sober alcoholics. They describe alcoholics as overly conscientious, guilt ridden and driven, able to express only limited feelings. The findings cover diverse ages and professions, from physicians to housewives, and suggest dignity, empathy, and unbiased reappraisal could improve treatment and reduce stigma.
