South Tama defeated Ankeny 14-6 after a 6-0 Ankeny first quarter lead. Wiese had a 9-yard run in the second and later caught a 13-yard TD from Maplethorpe. Foreman added a 2 from Colwell for Ankeny, while Colwell scored on a 2-yard run for the Tigers.

Lansing, Mich. AP reports Michigan State University athletic director Clarence Biggie Munn remains stable but critical after a stroke. Doctors say no change expected in 24 to 48 hours as his life signs stay strong. Munn, 63, previously coached MSU to a 28 game win streak and a 54 9 2 record before becoming athletic director in 1954.

Benton Community overturned Iowa Valley 29-13 with a 15-point fourth quarter. Dick Burkart scored three rushing TDs on 4, 4, and 7-yard runs, while Larry Pickart added the final Benton score. The top ranked Waterloo East Trojans remained undefeated at 5-0 with a 33-29 comeback over Marshalltown from a seven point deficit. Cedar Rapids pitcher Dan Dalziel, a key player for the American Legion team, suffered a broken bone in his right leg during a University of Iowa physical education class. Hawkeye coach Duane Banks said the freshman will miss two months of training but should be ready for the baseball season.
