The case stems from alleged efforts to sway rulings in Capasso’s divorce by steering a city job to the judge’s daughter. Capasso, serving a four year sentence on tax evasion, faces related charges. If convicted Myerson could face up to 30 years and 513000 in fines. co-defendants face up to 25 years and 263000 in fines. The indictment follows months of city investigations and remarks by U S Attorney Rudolph Giuliani.
The two senior members of President Reagan's AIDS commission resigned on Wednesday. White House officials said Reagan accepted Mayberry's resignation as chairman and planned to elevate Admiral James Watkins to lead the 13 member panel. Vice chairman Woodrow Myers Jr. also quit, with no word on replacements.
