Linn County redistricting panel splits over rural representation
The Linn County redistricting panel remains divided over Plan 2 and Plan 3 for rural representation as the Board of Supervisors will drop to three members in 2019. Plan 2 tames Cedar Rapids into two districts while Plan 3 centers Cedar Rapids north, with Marion and rural townships in the third. advocates cite balanced rural voices in Plan 2, while supporters of Plan 3 push for one Cedar Rapids district and a more rural third district. The panel leaders and Farm Bureau president voiced positions. a Wednesday vote on a recommended plan is set for 9 a.m. at the Jean Oxley Center before the supervisors submit to the state.
