Oregon libraries outsource to private company for cost savings
Jackson County Oregon will outsource library operations while keeping buildings and books. LSSI will manage 15 branches, hire 50 to 60 staff, and set salaries with the county retaining policy control on fines and cards. The move shifts workers to a 401 k plan, trims hours to 24 per week, and aims to save about half of prior annual library spending.
