Iowa Senators See Office Expense Boost as Incremental
The Senate approved a spending bill raising office expense funds for senators from 50 000 to 55 000 a year starting January 1. Iowa Republicans Roger Jepsen and Charles Grassley say the increase will not change spending as they rarely exhaust the current allocation. The rise comes after the first update since 1977 and covers travel postal costs and other office expenses based on state size and distance from Washington. Jepsen mainly charged travel between Iowa and Washington. Grassley similar patterns with minimal gadget purchases.
