Winneshiek districts opt out of state sales tax pool
The Decorah South Winneshiek and North Winneshiek school boards vote unanimously to exit the statewide local-option sales tax pool. Officials say opting out yields higher per pupil funds, with estimates near 597 to 619 dollars per student for 2003 2004, while the pool could cap at 575 per pupil. Concerns remain about state guarantees for the full amount.
