Firestone recalls 3.5 million Wilderness AT tires nationwide
Bridgestone/Firestone will recall 3.5 million Wilderness AT tires after a yearlong federal probe into failures that caused 271 deaths and hundreds of injuries. Most crashes involved Ford Explorer rollovers. NHTSA found no proof the Explorer design caused the faults. Recall covers P235/75R15 and P255/70R16 tires built before May 1998 used on Ford, Mercury SUVs and Ford Rangers.
