Manhunt ends as fugitive captured near Waterloo police

Stanley Barton Hoss Jr. from a Pittsburgh jail escape was arrested in Waterloo across from the police department. He faced federal charges of unlawful interstate flight to avoid murder and kidnapping prosecutions and was arraigned before U S Commissioner Fred Clark Jr. He resisted arrest and used an alias William Young. Detective teams recovered a loaded revolver in the suspect’s car, a missing 1969 convertible tied to the abduction of Mrs Linda Mae Peugeot and her 2 year old daughter Lori Mae since Sept 22. He was returned to Black Hawk county jail after arraignment. Authorities believed he had been in southern Minnesota and the FBI had issued alerts across the Midwest.
