Von Braun Criticism of Saturn Reported by Rep. Ryan
Washington AP Rep William Ryan disclosed that Wernher von Braun’s Saturn project complained in February of poor quality engines and other hardware that could cause a serious accident. The letter urged coordination between Rocketdyne and Chrysler for corrective action. Webb said von Braun demanded rigorous standards for perfection and noted foreign matter found in engines after testing. NASA faced criticism for candor about space program problems.
