Weather breaks after six days of Oklahoma rain
The Weather Bureau warned of a pause in the six day downpour as Guthrie Stillwater and Tulsa residents remained unable to return home from floods. Farther downstream Moffett faced Arkansas River flooding threatening thousands of acres while evacuations were planned for around 400 people. Five fatalities linked to the storm were reported including Clara Ott of Guthrie who cried she had lost everything and then appeared to suffer a heart attack.

Two Cedar Rapids children escaped serious injuries late Saturday after falling from a moving car driven by their father on highway 30 near the E R motel. Daniel Kobusch, 3, and his brother Douglas, 2, were treated at St Luke's hospital for minor abrasions. The boys were riding in the front seat of Laverne Kobusch's car at 214 Sixteenth St SE when another vehicle driven by Frank Novak, 518 Seventh St SE, bumped one of them while he lay in Novak's lane.

Fairfax man gets six months for suspended license
Elmer L. Hauk, 30, was sentenced to six months in jail after pleading guilty to operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license. Judge W. San doe Jordan imposed the sentence after Hauk was arrested May 17 for leaving the scene of a law accident. A Cedar Rapids man, Richard Klieneck, 40, pleaded innocent to a false check charge in district court before Judge Floyd Philbrick, accused of passing bad checks to restaurants and gas stations.
