A 28 year old Cedar Rapids man Howard J. Cones died at Mercy Hospital after a crash at Waconia Avenue and the Lincoln Freeway. Cones struck a truck driven by Susan DeSaulniers as she turned left. The crash occurred at 6 50 a.m. and was the ninth traffic fatality of the period.
