Four-H Feeders Get 784 Lambs Across Eight Iowa Counties
Sixty-one 4-H members across eight Iowa counties receive 784 lambs for feeding in the Eastern Iowa 4-H lamb feeding project. Lambs average just under 75 pounds and cost 34 cents per pound, with units of 16 head allocated to each member. The top Chester White boar at the R. E. Williams and Sons sale near Iowa City sold to Erv and Mary Lou Hagedorn of Toledo for 155. Southern Iowa Soybean Harvest Under Way
OTTUMWA AP The South Iowa soybean harvest is underway with a forecast for a 10 million dollar yield within a 45 mile radius. Early reports show 25 to 39 bushels per acre with an average about 28 to 30. Elevator operators report moisture tests on the new beans are satisfactory. Frost would aid harvest while rain would hinder it.
