After about 25 hours of deliberation the Tama County jury failed to reach a unanimous verdict on Dustin Jefferson’s guilt in the stabbing death of his wife Kerry O’Clair Jefferson. Jurors indicated the state did not prove Dustin’s actual participation, with one holdout foreman noting reasonable doubt. A retrial within 90 days was possible.
