The United Nations Association of Iowa released War and Peace and Iowa detailing how a limited nuclear strike on Omaha would unleash radiation across Iowa, wreck communications, contaminate land and water, overwhelm hospitals, and trigger mass evacuations, disease, and chaos. It notes that even sheltering would be stretched for weeks and cites regional medical and power shortages.
