White House vote deal shocks Grassley anger over Moores call
Iowa senator Charles Grassley voiced anger over a White House pressure attempt to speed the nomination of Evan Hultman as U.S. attorney in Iowa. Deputy aide to the president Powell Allen Moore allegedly tied Hultman to votes on AWACS sales to Saudi Arabia and debt limit increases. Grassley and Roger Jepsen resisted any deal, noting Hultman’s Judiciary Committee scrutiny and ongoing perjury allegations.
