Chicago Livestock reports hogs down 25 to 35 cents as supplies rise and deliveries reach the largest since March 20. The day sees mixed cattle results with calves and feeders soft, heifers near steady, and steers trading around mid 30s for prime lots, while prices for lower grades slip.
Receipts include calves 1,700 and steers and heifers with varied demand. Prices range from about 28 to 31 dollars for medium to fancy stockers and calves, with cows and cutters selling mostly 19 to 22 dollars and feeders around 29 to 31 dollars depending on size and quality.

A short in the wiring of the automobile owned by James H. Stanaway at 1260 Tenth caused an auto fire. Fire department units responded and contained the blaze with no injuries reported. The incident is under investigation for cause and potential damages.
John J. Troy, previously under care at University hospital in Iowa City, has been returned to his Nassif apartments home on Friday. Charles Yordi 21 of Riverside Iowa was indicted by the Johnson County Grand Jury for manslaughter in the June 9 truck crash on highway 6 near Tiffin that killed 17 year old Irene Crow Iowa City. Yordi pled not guilty and posted $2000 bond and appeared in district court with Judge James P. Gaffney. The accident also injured two other passengers. Crow was the daughter of Edith Crow of Iowa City.
Cafe and tavern operators in New Hampton Indiana report a price war with grocers over a $1.69 cigarette tag. Cafes sell bread and groceries in retaliation as grocers slash cigarette prices, aiming for a settlement.
The Rev Billy Graham announced in Minneapolis that under no circumstances will he make a motion picture. He said he rejected the third offer on Sunday.

Senator Johnson and Edwin P. Hoyt were slightly injured in a London traffic collision that involved a bus and a truck. They were part of a 15 member press group touring Germany. both suffered bruises but no serious injuries.
