A two car crash Friday at the Corn and C Avenue intersection near Robins brought down a wooden pole and red flashing lights. Minor injuries were reported and charges were pending per Linn County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Richard Yoder.
Marion Iowa Katie Mulholland Linn-Mar School District receives 2011 2012 Iowa Superintendent of the Year from the School Administrators of Iowa for leadership in a positive school environment. She will be honored at the SAI banquet and becomes eligible for the National Superintendent of the Year award from the AASA.
Police arrest 25 year old transient man Charles Cleary in Iowa City on two counts of third degree sexual abuse. The incidents involve a 13 year old girl and occurred within 24 hours at an apartment on Valley Avenue where neither suspect nor victim reside. Cleary is jailed in Johnson County.
Fairfax man Jaco van Bush 22 waived speedy trial and will be retried on March 12 for the 2008 fatal shooting of Thomas Horvath 19. A status conference was held to reset the first degree murder retrial after a previous setting and an appeal alleging inadmissible evidence.
