University of Iowa finance chief Richard A. Stevenson says Reagan's Economic Recovery Tax Act will benefit savers and spur growth in the 1980s. He notes IRA expansion in 1982 and All Savers Certificates appealing to higher tax brackets, while cautioning inflation may not drop below 5 to 7 percent.
Police charged two men David M. Warner and William F. McCauley with second degree burglary after a break-in at the White Elephant Shop 1010 Third St SE. McCauley also faces a marijuana possession count. Warner remained jailed with $5,000 bond. McCauley was released.
