Misunderstood Iowa School Study Debates Optimum District Size
Iowa administrator Dr. Ellis Hanson clarified that the Great Plains Project aimed to define a district size balancing equity and efficiency. Critics call 3,500 pupils impractical, but Hanson notes the plan envisions regional services and multiple attendance centers within one board. Local control is argued to be preserved by smaller districts and coordinated state support.
