State Road Patrol Gets 30 New Men
Thirty Iowa Highway Patrol graduates were sworn in as patrolmen at Des Moines in a five week training. Major James Machholz noted the recruits are exceptionally fine and should contribute to law enforcement. The 30 new patrolmen bring on duty strength to 295 of an authorized 300. The 1959 legislature authorized 25 more. List of new officers by hometown and assignment included Henry W. Anderson Mason City to Calmar and others to Des Moines Cedar Rapids and Oelwein among many.
